In the spirit of Making the Most of the Dash, I’m going to a music festival today with a friend. The Rock the Park festival is a week long and has theme days. Today’s theme is the splendid, splendid ’80s. We’re seeing Howard Jones, Platinum Blonde, Flock of Seagulls, Mr. Mister, Kim Mitchell (who replaced Men Without Hats), Brett Michaels and Cyndi Lauper. So you know what you’re getting today, right?
Bonus Album Notes: When I was in grade 11 or so, my best pal Mark got a tattoo of “Every Rose has its Thorn”. He didn’t tell me, so when I saw him the next day, I grabbed his newly-inked arm. Oops. That tattoo has been the source of much teasing over the years. I would request that song for him at bars whilst we were in university, and sing it to him as he was trying to be charming to perky young co-eds. Good times. At his wedding in St. Johns, he got his drunk self up on stage and sang it with a little “help” from his peeps. So while Brett Michaels is good and everything, he doesn’t hold a candle to the Huot Wedding version.
