It’s been almost a week since the incomparable Ruth Bader Ginsburg died. She was one of my mentors, an I’m a little broken that she’s not going to be around to hold the US justice system in check anymore. So this week, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Life Immortalized In Song appeared in my feed, and while I’m taking a *slightly* different take on my homage to the Notorious RBG, inspiration is inspiration, so here we are.
RBG described herself as a Belligerent Optimist. And I can’t think of a better description of what she was, and what I want to be, when I grow up. So this week, also a birthday week for me, I’m considering who my mentors are, who my heroes are and how I can pick up the mantle and push forward the things that need to be championed.
Since birthdays tend to bring out all the thinkythoughts, I’m going to use the words of RBG to inspire me: “To make life a little better for people less fortunate than you, that’s what I think a meaningful life is. One lives not just for oneself but for one’s community.”
Have a splendid week, friends.
