This could have gone a few ways, really. I’m going to see La Cenerentola (Cinderella) by Gioachino Rossini tonight. And I quite enjoy opera. I have a few East Village Opera Company tracks on my go-to playlist. Sadly, they’re on haitus, but through the magic of Spotify or, yaknow, my physical CDs, I can still enjoy the delights of the Vesti la Giubba, La Danza, and Questa O Quella at my leisure. Operatic pipes and dirty electric guitar? Yes Please. I mean don’t get me wrong, the EVO CDs are right there beside the the unparalleled Andreas Boccelli (and 4 Tenors and Josh Groban and Measha Brueggergrosman). There are a bunch of other operas sampled pretty overtly – lookin’ at you, LL Cool J – Dear Mallika (sampling the Flower Duet from Lakme). Also Malcolm McLaren – Madame Butterfly (sampling Madame Butterfly by Puccini) and the accompanying Robert Plant’s Girls Go To The Spa video. Oy, If you know, you know.
I went with none of that.
I’m going to see Cinderella, so we went with Hair Bands. And then didn’t even include Cinderella in the mix. Ha!
