Maybe it doesn’t matter where the starting line is, because we all end up arriving at the same destination on Remembrance Day.
In Canada, we celebrate Remembrance day on November 11th. For the entirety of the poppy campaign (and one day slightly later), I reflect on service and sacrifice. For the next fortnight, #wewillrememberthem.
On the Feast of St. Hubert, we ask for humility at the death of one of God’s creatures. It’s fitting thta we celebrate this whilst we wear our poppies because during wartime and in the aftermath, animals play a big part in the military effort.
On All Souls Day, my friend and I return to a cemetery to honour strangers lost to war, and perhaps, time. We will remember them.
